Misano World Circuit, 15 May 2024 – An extraordinary weekend arrives at Misano World Circuit, which will see the custom-built cars of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS as protagonists, with the exceptional opportunity to see Valentino Rossi back on track, who last year achieved the its first success in a weekend with over 21 thousand spectators.
This year, 36 cars are expected for the Sprint Cup and after three years it will also return to racing in the evening, in the only seasonal event under the spotlight. Both races of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe are scheduled for Saturday, the first at 2.00 pm and the second at 9.00 pm.
Valentino Rossi, together with his partner Maxime Martin, will be protagonists on his home track, where in 2023 he climbed to the top step of the podium after his first victory in the championship organized by SRO.
The circuit will host the championship for the tenth consecutive year and will offer a sort of rematch of the challenges started in the seasonal debut at Brands Hatch. The novelty of the Bronze Cup will also be added to MWC.
At the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe, Maro Engel and Lucas Auer, winners in England with Mercedes-AMG, will therefore have to defend themselves from the onslaught of the BMW of Valentino Rossi and Maxime Martin and from that of Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts, historically protagonists at Misano .
But the panorama of competitors announces exciting competitions. Among others, the Ferrari teams with Ben Green and Konsta Lappalainen are expected, as well as the crew formed by Thierry Vermeulen and Giacomo Altoè and the one with Eliseo Donno and Thomas Fleming; Audi with Ricardo Feller and Alex Aka, as well as the couple Christopher Haase and Lorenzo Ferrari; the McLaren of Tom Gamble and Benjamin Goethe, the Porsche with Patric Niederhauser and Sven Müller.
Also on the track is a local favourite: Mattia Drudi, an Aston Martin driver from this year, who was born in Riccione and now lives in San Marino and will be paired with Nicolas Baert.
On the track are the custom-built cars from the great dream car manufacturers: McLaren, BMW, Lamborghini, Audi, Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG.
Tickets can be purchased directly at the circuit or in advance on the TicketOne platform and on the misanocircuit.com website. Possible season tickets and tickets allow free movement between paddocks and the stands adjacent to the MWC Square.
Tomorrow at 7.00 pm a Meet&Greet with the riders is scheduled at the MWC Padel Arena, which has just been inaugurated inside the paddock. It will be an opportunity to meet the protagonists of the races on the track, available for autographs and poster distribution.
The weekend’s track program will start on Friday, when the Fanatec GT World Challenge cars will take to the track from 9.00, followed by the Clio Cup Series, the GT4 European Series, the McLaren Trophy Europe and the Fanatec GT2 European Series.
