Thirty years of MotoGP in Misano

Misano World Circuit > MotoGP > Thirty years of MotoGP in Misano

RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF SAN MARINO AND THE RIMINI RIVIERA:

THE THIRTIEST RACE OF THE MOTORCYCLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AT MISANO,

THE TWENTIETH IN A ROW.

THE FIRST WINNER WAS KENNY ROBERTS, 44 YEARS AGO.

Misano World Circuit, September 5 2024 – The challenge on the track begins. Starting tomorrow at 8.30, with the free practice of the MotoE, Marco Simoncelli kicks off the weekend of the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini. It is the twentieth consecutive Grand Prix since the world championship returned to the Motor Valley in 2007, the thirtieth hosted by MWC in its history. The first was won, in 1980, by Kenny Roberts.

ON THE TRACK THE ARMY OF 293 MARSHALLS

Also ready to take to the track is the army of race officials, the marshalls who carry out a fundamental job in the general organization around the track. There are 293 of them, distributed between race direction, pit lane, recovery wagon staff, scooter staff to transport the riders and along the track. Among them there are also about fifty women.

A hundred come from the ACI Rimini Race Officials Association, the same number from the Moto Club Città di Riccione. The rest come from Lazio, Lombardy, Veneto and Tuscany, but almost all the regions are represented.

The central nucleus is made up of marshals who also have over 30 years of experience, permanently working on the circuit during the races. Yesterday evening the starting meeting and from tomorrow at 5.30 everyone on the track to be ready and operational from 6.30, until half an hour after the end of the races or tests.

“It is a job that requires a lot of commitment and is rewarding for us – says the team manager, Paolo Amaducci – It requires maximum concentration, in all sectors. Obviously we are also fans, each one has their own favorite driver but when we are on the track they are all the same and deserving of maximum attention, first comes the work on the track. We are participating in a world event, each of us brings a brick to the success of the event and having so many women with us is a good sign. We dedicate ourselves to the more physical work, they are mainly in charge of the flags and are impeccable. In the end, the prize is a thank you from the driver we helped to restart or assisted. Someone who doesn’t restart is nervous, but we have to understand the state of mind”.

MISANO GREEN CIRCUIT

The KiSS Misano-Keep it Shiny and Sustainable program, dedicated to environmental and social sustainability, promoted by Misano World Circuit, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), Dorna and IRTA, is back in the spotlight as part of the Misano Green Circuit project. Also this year, the focus will be on waste sorting to reduce the environmental impact of the event.

A special space will also be given to the call-to-action for the collection of PET bottles, promoted by Corepla (National Consortium for the Collection, Recycling and Recovery of Plastic Packaging) which will involve the team hospitality areas, the circuit restaurant and the refreshment points with the placement of personalized containers designated for collection. An incentive eco-compactor will be placed at the KiSS Misano info desk in the paddock area and the “green rangers” will move among the public to raise awareness of the correct disposal of PET bottles and collection through special personalized backpacks.

The extraordinary biodiversity of the Adriatic Sea will also be promoted and enhanced through games and informative panels that will tell curiosities and characteristics of the marine fauna characteristic of the Adriatic coast, in collaboration with the Institute for Biological Resources and Marine Biotechnologies (CNR – IRBIM)

The fight against food waste has been confirmed: on Saturday and Sunday, excess food will be collected from hospitality and teams thanks to the volunteers of the Associazione Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII. The food collected will be donated to emergency evening and night shelters for the homeless.

On the topic of disability, always together with the Associazione Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII, several equipped areas will be created, equipped with gazebos, refreshment areas and other facilities, to accommodate disabled people and their companions in the most comfortable way. Guests will be welcomed with a free MWC cap from the 2024 collection.

The coordination of KiSS Misano is entrusted to Right Hub Società Benefit, a company specialized at an international level in sustainable management projects for events, event locations, event organizers, suppliers of goods and services for events, sports teams participating in events.
